Girl With A Pearl Earring

This is probably my favorite drawing I have done. Mine isn't nearly as good as the real thing, so I HIGHLY suggest looking at the real thing. Her gaze has captured me in such a way that I cannot let her go - and she will not let go of me. I first became interested in her when I watched the movie. It was good, but I found out there was a book version - a story behind the painting. I had to read it. I actually just finished the book about two mintues ago (no joke) and it was amazingly good. I totally suggest it. I have a print out of the picture on my wall in my room. The way that Vermeer has captured her gaze .. is breathtaking. No matter where you stand in the room, she is looking at you .. with those wide, and almost blank, eyes that are longing for something ... something ... more. The pearl doesn't make her - she makes the pearl. I love this painting and I love the story of this girl.
